Rudy Maras and Ann Corrine Connie (née Perkovich) who were born in Minnesota and were of Croatian heritage. In 1955, his father changed the surname from Maras to Maris. Roger had an elder brother named Rudolph.
Roger Maris was married to Patricia A. Maris from 1956 until his death in 1985 . They had six children together: Richard Maris, Kevin J., Randy, Susan A., and Roger E. Maris Jr. Susan is the oldest of the group while Roger Jr. is the youngest.
